Descripció i   Metodologia:   This online course is going to focus on English sounds, laying emphasis on the trickiest vowel and consonant sounds for a Catalan/Spanish speaker and how they can be taught to remote students. The content is going to deal with vowel sounds, diphthongs, consonant voiced & unvoiced sounds, syllable stress and other relevant aspects of the oral language. All of them focused on helping teachers develop and improve their communicative competence as well as their students in our challenging present and digital future. As we all know, the speaking skill is vital and conversation should be prioritised even if we are not in class. Appealing activities using ICT tools that can help us in b-learning times will be introduced and video conferences will be carried out throughout the modules.
  
Objectius   1. To distinguish the trickiest English sounds.
2. To design a set of digital activities using different online resources to make students aware of its relevance to avoid misunderstandings.
3. To restate the importance of the communicative competence in the secondary classroom.
  
Continguts   MODULE 1:
Vowel Sounds – 12 vowel sounds, 8 diphthongs, vowel sounds contrast & minimal pairs and homophones.

MODULE 2:
Consonant Sounds (closer look at fricatives), consonant sounds contrast & minimal pairs, silent letters in words and tricky -OUGH pronunciation.

MODULE 3:
Syllable stress in words, different English accents, top mispronounced words and phonetic transcription.
  
Observacions   Google Meet sessions (1h aprox. per session):

1.Thursaday 22nd April from 19:00h to 20:00h.
2.Thursaday 6th May from 19:00h to 20:00h.
3.Thursaday 20th May from 19:00h to 20:00h.

Avaluació   -Positive attainment of the course activities:
Each of the 3 Modules will have a set of activities that participants will have to do. They will require the use of ICT tools, an active participation in forums or quizzes and 3 compulsory videoconferences with the trainer.
Teachers will also read some articles, watch some interesting videos and record their voice to practise tricky sounds.
-Satisfaction questionnaire.

Persones  destinatàries   Secondary English teachers with a C1 minimum.
Requisits:
1. Disposar d'usuari XTEC actiu.
2. Haver certificat les activitats de formació adjudicades durant aquest curs acadèmic i l'anterior.
Criteris específics d’adjudicació. Les sol•licituds admeses s'ordenaran en funció de:
1.Vinculació al centre de treball 2.1.Funcionari 2.2.Interí 2.3. Substitut
2.Nivell de llengua C2,C1.
Si ets docent d'un centre concertat, municipal o les acreditacions d’especialitat i/o nivell de llengua (C2 o C1) requerides a la convocatòria no consten a l’ATRI, caldrà omplir aquest FORMULARI dins del període de sol•licitud.
